No Eggs for Elijah

Elijah had his allergy appt today with Dr. Lucas in Wilmington. He does not have an allergy to milk as originally suggested. He does however have a "clinically significant" allergy to eggs. He is not allergic to ANY of the other major food allergies, such as peanuts like his sister. He was also tested for environmental allergens like dust mites and dogs/cats, etc but does not appear to have an allergy to any of these either. The Dr retested him on his arm to be certain of the result. It is puzzling because Eli obviously does not eat eggs. The Dr said to check the baby foods Eli has eaten to be certain they did not contain an egg product in them. Elijah eats only Beech Nut fruits and veggies and although I did come home and double check, Beech Nut only contains the actual vegetable or fruit that it is, along with water and in some cases also ascorbic acid (vitamin C). So although eggs are in just about everything and we will have to really watch labels until then, there is a good chance that he could out grow this allergy by the age of 5. What is more puzzling is that since there are no eggs in Eli's food intake now, it is apparent that the colitis/anemia is caused by something unrelated to an allergy, although common symptoms of an egg allergy are bloody stools and severe eczema and anemia. Hmmm. Hopefully we will get further answers from Duke at his appt on July 8th.
